Paul Navidad
Along with numerous radio, film, and television credits, PAUL NAVIDAD has dozens of other recording projects under his belt as an award-winning saxophonist, composer, and arranger in California, his native state.
Paul Navidad maintains a busy schedule and performs with a diverse list of musicians from Al Jarreau to Paul Williams to Tennessee Ernie Ford. He has opened for such comedians as Jay Leno, Rich Little, and Jamie Foxx, and has been featured on several soundtracks of films and television shows, including most notably, NBC’s Emmy-nominated sitcom “Friends.”
He has recorded with Lou Rawls, Deborah Harry, Lisa Loeb, and Isaac Hayes, as well as a special recording with actors George Wendt and Gary Oldman on the Buena Vista Records children’s album “A World of Happiness.” He was also heavily featured on Lou Rawls final album “Lou Rawls Christmas,” on the Time-Life label. He is currently in heavy demand as a performer and writer working worldwide.
Locally, Paul can be seen performing at a number of Southern California Jazz clubs with notable artists Wilton Felder, Jeff Kashiwa, Eric Marienthal, & Rob Mullins. His skills as an improviser have earned him the praises of such Jazz greats as Alan Broadbent, Buddy Collette, Dewey Erney, Kim Richmond, Bud Shank, and Bill Watrous.
This high level profile has earned him the recognition of the International Association of Jazz Education as an Outstanding Soloist along with becoming a member of the faculty of Orange Coast College in the Fall of 2000. He currently oversees Jazz and Commercial Music Studies as well as Music Theory. Paul is also working on his first solo saxophone CD, and a recently released first single as a vocalist entitled “I Won’t Let You Down,” available on iTunes and Amazon.com.
