Ed Berg

Saxophonist Eddie Berg is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and composer born and raised on Long Island, New York. Eddies music education was focused in classical and jazz performances along with Blues and Rock & Roll.  His performance not only includes tenor, alto, soprano, and baritone saxophones, but in addition he plays keyboards, percussion and EWI (electronic wind instrument.) His music interest has been focused in traditional and contemporary Jazz to R&B, Blues, Funk, and Inspirational Music.

Eddie’s interest to music started at an early age when he decided to be a Tuba player without realizing he had to carry a bulky and heavy instrument to school each day. Quickly he wanted to switch to trumpet, and his dad changed his mind when he discovered the sound of tenor saxophone, His dads influence of the big groups of the 50s had changed his mind by listening to groups such as the Coasters. Quickly he started to listen to King Curtis on tenor.

Eddie was later introduced to the music of Boots Randolph where he realized his own creative ability to take vocal songs and turn them into his own style of the original. One of the biggest thrill was when Eddie played for Randy and the Rainbows at a revival show, his dad was watching his son playing the songs he loved. In school Eddie was an active member of concert, jazz and marching bands throughout school and performed in competitions outside of school as well.

Eddie’s work also includes credit as a session musician for studio recordings, live performances as a special guest artist and has been in many different bands on Long Island. His live performance interaction with the audience brings the show to a new level. The larger the audience the bigger thrill.

Eddie is also involved with teaching younger students by providing private lessons. His teaching brings interest and excitement to each lesson. Eddie teaches students how to overcome hard material and introduces lessons they do not learn in school.

Eddie released his debut CD titled, “Generations, From The Heart”, which offers Smooth Jazz music. Influenced by past artists, this music will inspire the soul. All of the songs were written, performed and produced by himself. In addition he released four singles and two songs produced by Rahni Song, a multi award winner for many artists such as Najee, and Melba Moore.

Today his music is being played on jazz radio stations in many countries. His current release of music can be found on I-Tunes and Cdbaby.com. Eddie is going to perform as an independent artist this year, look out for upcoming shows.
